Hinged Chipboard Birdhouses

Note: most of the links on this post no longer work, as we moved to a new Web site in 2018. But you can try searching on the same names (as links below) on the new site.

Two Design Team Members both had the idea to slice and hinge the Chipboard Birdhouse Shapes, to much different effect.

After covering with background papers, Nichola Battilana sliced the birdhouses down the center, and then twice more vertically to make little gate-fold shrines! See the large photo at left and the little row of shrine/birdhouses beneath it.

Laura Carson sliced off a bit of the roof on the inside edges of 3 birdhouses so she’d have straight edges to hinge (see photo below right).

Then after much decorating, her triptych became an Aviary Millinery! (That link shows the outside of the hat shop with the front door in the center… see links below for more views of both projects.)

See more pics of both of their creations in the Gallery.

See more of the decorative materials used in each project:
Robin Red Breast Collage Sheet (for Laura’s project),
and
Tintypes Collage Sheet (for Nichola’s).
