Marie Antoinette Always Loved A Good Party

Filed under Art Projects, Giveaways, Marie in Wonderland, Newsletters, Rhonda Secrist Thomas

Note: most of the links on this post no longer work, as we moved to a new Web site in 2018. However, you can see the supply list items from Rhonda’s project that are still available on the new site.

Before Design Team Coordinator Miz Bella (Kim Ayers) introduces artwork by Design Team Member Rhonda Secrist Thomas, I have a few notes:

I apologize for some items being so late lately (yes, a bit redundant); the port strike untanglement (?) is continuing but it will probably be late Spring before shipments from China are running smoothly again. Sorry! I cannot do much about it and I’m pretty frustrated by the situation. But some items have started arriving in a more expected timeframe so there is progress.

On to more fun subjects: we are again having TWO Giveaway drawings! More info below (and info on who won Thursday’s Giveaways). And there’s a new FREE Gift with Order offer: Leslie’s Choice (and this week is all about Chocolate and Raspberry in honor of Rhonda’s artwork)! AND… the Collage Sheet Sale and FREE Collage Sheet offer is still going strong! More info is in Thursday’s Newsletter. And if you missed that Newsletter, you can still view the sweet Tea Time Theatre by Shanna Shands (and some vintage air mail themed papers)!

Rhonda Secrist Thomas has outdone herself this month, creating an altered clock with the Marie in Wonderland Kit.

Marie Antoinette Always Loved A Good Party is a fabulous, former, plain, old thing that was just laying around in Rhonda’s closet waiting (for YEARS) to be made over. Several of the images of excess-loving Marie are from the Marie Takes Tea Collage Sheet, made to fit perfectly onto the new Die-Cut Chipboard Panniers Dress, which also, happened to fit perfectly into each niche.

If you look closely you can see tons of 1mm Micro Beads in assorted colors that Rhonda has in different places in each niche. (I had to have them in every color, they’re so much fun to work with!) They look so cute on the cupcakes made from the 3D Tea Party Silicone Mold (which is so cool cuz the images are repeated in a mirror-image so you can glue the 2 parts together if you’d like a fully 3D prop) with the sweet Flower Stamen mixed into the “frosting” (along with the mix of flowers and leaves available exclusively in the Marie in Wonderland Kit). Rhonda also used the 1mm Micro Beads on the Die Cut Chipboard Panniers Dress after she painted them with colors from the Liquid Pearls – Neutral Colors Set. Pretty cool effect, don’t you think?

How about the amazing top part of the clock? All intricate and detailed, and the color combination of the pink against the Vintage Photo Distress Ink & Stain colors reminds me of a warm toasty pastry that has sweet cherry icing… yum!

“I love the new Lacy Triangular Pennant Banner Flags and the Mini Lacy Banner Flags. They remind me of a vintage, European treat, perfect for a tea party, or for a cuckoo-type clock made into a yummy chocolate. I use Distress Stains and Paints. Easy to use, easy clean up and nice, rich color. Then I used a brush with some good ole’ Elmer’s glue to make sure every last bit was attached.”

Other little elements you might miss, that I almost did (and will be ordering for myself!) are the 3D Bronze Tea Time Teapot Charm and the Sweet Tooth Resin Embellishments that are actually buttons – but who cares?! Cut off the shank and use them as little tiny props! I have been making teeny-tiny felt mice for my niece and those little embellishments will be perfect accessories to add to their travelling suitcase.

Before time runs out check out Rhonda’s supply list, then visit Rhonda’s blog to see the tutorial Rhonda put together, of course hurry, hurry before Marie… loses her head!
