Time Keeper, Butterflies & Miniatures! Artwork by Lora Mahaffey!

Filed under Art Projects, Featured Artwork, Giveaways, Lora Mahaffey, Newsletters

A reminder before getting to the beautiful artwork by Lora Mahaffey (and New Miniatures!), the Half Price Sale on Circus Rubber Stamps and Circus Collage Sheets (and FREE collage sheet offer) continues through Friday, May 15th — that’s TOMORROW! The circus goodies are on sale because of the May Kit Theme: Run Away and Join the Circus. Note: the Tim Holtz stamp sets are on sale for 20% off — still a great deal!

Design Team Member Lora Mahaffey has had her head in the clouds, floating over far-away locales, finally landing in her hot air balloon as The Lepidopterist Explorer!

How sweet are all of those butterflies carrying the trunk via the hot air balloon that Laura designed from the Time Keeper Scrapbook Papers? (See the wide photo below for more of this big project.) The trunk is made from the Chipboard Steamer Trunk covered with paper from the Serengeti 6×6 Paper Pad, Faux Suede Paper (for the straps on the steamer trunk), and Tiny Faux Ring Handles are used on the outside of the trunk.

When everything is opened up, and The Lepidopterist Explorer is at work observing her butterfly friends she has everything she needs handy within reach. Binoculars, a nice Pot of Tea, and a Hurricane Lamp to write by once it starts to get dark. Then it is time to plan out her next area to explore!

I love all that lime green, to contrast with the tans & browns in the Time Keeper Scrapbook Papers. The green comes from a mix of Double Dot Vintage Wasabi Green Scrapbook Paper and the Forever Green 6×6 Paper Pad.

Time Keeper 6x6 Paper Pad*And… finally(!) the Time Keeper 6×6 Paper Pads have arrived! Whew! Didn’t know if they’d ever finish their journal to this continent.

Here’s a bit more info from Lora:

I made the butterfly net from tulle and copper wire, the camp stool, bed roll and pillow are from an old flour sack towel.(Clever!)

Nearly all the butterflies (there are 64 of them!) are from the Forever Green 6×6 Paper Pad (and the, sadly, sold out Butterfly Specifics Scrapbook Paper).

Bronze Stopwatch Clock Charm - Roman NumeralsYou’ll want to explore The Lepidopterist Explorer Supply List before you trek on over to Lora’s blog. She has more photos and she talks about how she put the balloon together AND how she made the butterflies look like they’re floating!

Then come back and see the new goodies below AND the Giveaway Leslie pulled together, with a mix of butterflies, new miniatures, and papers from Lora’s supplies! (And one of those new items would be perfect in Lora’s trunk: the Bronze Stopwatch Clock Charm – Roman Numerals — and one is in today’s Giveaway, too!)

Lora’s Lepidopterist Explorer is both artistic and imaginative! Truly lovely work – so inspirational! Love the dollhouse miniatures – the little hurricane lamp is a wonderful addition to the scene. Anytime I can include a tiny tea set in a miniature scene makes it seem even homier and cozier to me. What a comforting thing to have, even when one finds herself so far away from home! Thank you for the wonderful giveaway and a chance to win.

    10. Lorna E. Says:

You have so many great miniatures it’s hard to choose the most useful, but I think I have to go with the Tim Holtz salvaged dolls, they’d fit well with a project I have in mind. I also love the miniature glass jar with lid and glass domes.

    11. Kim Lucak Says:

Love butterflies!!! Always so many creative ideas :)

    12. Kimberly Laws Says:

The miniatures are all darling, but sewing as much as I do, I love the sewing machine charms best. They can be added to a mini art quilt, a handmade card, or shadowbox to name just a few.

    13. Alice Zinn Says:

As a miniaturist as well as a scrapbooker, this kit is fabulous. I can think of dozens of ways to use these miniatures. Vignette scenes in pictures frame sis on of my favorites. Making a small sewing scene, or a teaparty would. Be 2 options. The steam trunk would be awesome to use as a small vignette with lots of goodies hanging out the drawers etc…

    17. Karen Says:

I KNOW that I would start with the Steamer Trunk. I had one that I wallpapered and painted when I was in high school and would love to have a miniature one to decorate. I also love all the goodies having to do with time, especially the papers. Hope I am lucky!

    18. gloria stafford Says:

Wow! Yet a new and intriguing selection of goodies!

The timekeeper giveaway is awesome. The most useful miniature I’m seeing is the Roman numeral clock. It has an authenticity that I buy into 100%. (Whereas, say, the gumball machine is cute, but when I look at it, I know it doesn’t dispense real gum.) I love all of the clocks and gears.

    22. Luanne Says:

My girlfriends is looking for Mini crates for her dollhouse. It would be fun to surprise her also, with the bubblegum machine!

Definitely the tiny glass jar. It’s begging to be filled with glitter, sprinkles, microbeads, moss for a teeny tiny terrarium, doll eyes or hands for a creepy halloween theme or scented oil for some fragrance. It could also be used for the base of a lamp or vase for a tiny bouquet. Too many possibilities!

    27. Jennifer J Says:
