New Wendy Vecchi Colors, Lots of Elephants & Die-Cut Chipboard Sale!

Filed under Art Projects, Giveaways, Katie Zoey Ho, Newsletters, Run Away & Join the Circus Kit, Sale

Before jumping into Miz Bella’s introduction of Katie Zoey Ho’s glorious artwork, a reminder: ALL Die-Cut Chipboard is ON SALE for 20% off! Sale Ends Tuesday night, May 26th. Hey, what’s that shrine over on the right? That’s the Arch Top Reliquary.

Design Team Member (and resident Alpha Stamps curiosity) Katie Zoey Ho is up with her offering that gives a different twist on the Run Away and Join the Circus Kit! I couldn’t have written a more delightful post myself; so I’m going to let Katie do all the talking!

My Venetian Masquerade Carnival Curio Shoppe is owned by this man known as “The Man who Knows” for this week’s Alpha Stamps newsletter project highlight. This Man has a pretty much unique curio shop (I should say) because he has this gigantic Venetian mask mounted on top of his shop.

As you enter his shop, your soles will be welcomed by the velvety touch of this imported Persian Regal carpet (made from Faux Suede Sheets)! I’d have to warn you to enter the shop bare-footed as you cannot afford to dirty his expensive carpet. What houses inside his shop are various curio items ranging from a variety of carnival masks, buttons & badges, clocks & watches, jokers posters, playing card suits, a Hurricane lamp, a Magician’s top hat to even a Holy Bible.

Along with this shop, he has a trunk of various clown masks, props and shoes. What he always brings along is his little black suitcase containing various Magician wands and you wouldn’t want to miss getting one! And interestingly, he loves riding his penny-farthing bike around and tends to keep it in his suitcase.

Really, I shouldn’t give any more away to Katie’s story — but there is MORE and some of it has to do with stinky, rich elephants. Can’t tell you any more though or The Man Who Knows will know it was me; and he’ll send them to my house. With dogs and teenagers creating a scented wall of voodoo at my house already, I certainly don’t need any more help in the stinky department!

Check out the supply list; then head on over to Katie’s blog. She has tons of pictures for you to look at as well as a tutorial showing you how to make the suitcase AND the magic wands!

Hooray for the Curio Shoppe Props Giveaway!

Hey, who won the Chipboard Circus & Posies Giveaway? That would be Christy! (And she commented: “I see so many fun possibilities for these awesome trunks and minis! I love the velvet flowers, the colors are all pretty and really blend well together. I think the blue is my favorite. It’s a rich, color saturated blue-and versatile. You could use it for decorative touches for most any season or holiday.“) Please check your email for my message about getting your mailing address.

At first sight I was’nt quite sure, but now after looking closely, I like it, looks like fun !

    3. Donna Mundinger Says:

This is the kind of shop I’d love to get lost in. Who knows what treasures you may find? The trunk of clown masks (and gloves and shoes) is amazing and of course I love the little suitcase of wands, but my favorites are those stinky rich elephants who helped him hoist the mask above the shop and hold the “Closed” chain. Don’t they come in handy? xxD

    4. Tammy Says:

I love the steamer trunk with clown parts. I love the idea of mixing and matching your own clown, Cute! And, I really like the little black suitcase with wands. You never now when your going to need a replacement!

Katie Zoey Ho’s Venetian Masquerade Curio Shoppe is an absolutely delightful and charming miniature world … such a unique eye and vision for for the curious! The idea of a trunk of clown mask and props is genius over-the-top – so clever and eerily funny. love, Love, LOVE the ginormous Ventian mask over the shop – it looks as though it’s been leafed – though there are so many quality sprays now it’s hard sometimes to tell the difference…whichever, it’s lovely.

It’s certainly hard to choose a favorite part of such a unified whole, but I guess it would be the fabulous array of carnival masks, buttons & badges, clocks & watches, jokers posters, playing card suits, a Hurricane lamp, a Magician’s top hat and Holy Bible. What a conglomeration.

It’s not really a ‘thing’ – but my favorite part of the project was just the cleverness and skill of the idea and putting it all together.

I would love to win this prize and try my hand at making a Venetian Mask Cabinet of Curiosities! Thanks for the opportunity!

    15. Gail Gill Says:

Just lovely. My favorite part (and this is so hard to choose) would have to be the story line behind the creation. I was totally drawn in by the narrative and even agreed to wipe my feet before looking past the rug.

But I like the box closed even more.
With the little suitcase on top.
What looks like embossing, the graphic and tied close with a ribbon.
A beautiful box full of silly clowns.
      Who would have guessed?

    32. Lorna E. Says:

I love how Katie decorated the box for the shop – beautiful choices in colour and embellishments, like the little masks on the top and the embossed paper on the sides and the flourishes and pennants inside. It gives it a very whimsical feel.

    33. Kristie Norman Says:

My Favorite Part: The trunk with the ribbon used to close it, and I love the story !!! Thank you for the spectacular giveaways.

    43. Janet Turner Says:

Amazing giveaway! I would love to win it!

    44. manuel martin Says:

I really like the Idea of using the mask with the mini’s, just think of all the ways you could do this!

    45. Pat Shaw Says:

I just love love this magical circus project. Would love to win this fabulous prize.

    46. Michelle Says:

There is so much attention to detail in this piece that really, many pieces carry equal weight in terms of “what I like best.” Do I talk about the attachment of the mask itself, and the detail along its edging? Do I talk about the perfect miniatures that fit together realistically in their custom-made world? Do I talk about the tiny Bible and cards and pieces that fit so well together in a makeshift shelf? Or do I describe the well thought-out simplicity of the miniature masks (chipboard? paper?) against the brilliantly detailed full-scale mask?
It’s easier to say what I don’t like, simply because the list is shorter. I don’t like: the creepy ringmaster clown. (The one standing on his own head I’m ok with but the ringmaster… creeps me out.)

      WELL DONE overall.

    47. Ginette Says:

    51. Carmen Willis Says:

I love the everything about this featured project; however, if I have to choose which is my favorite, it has to be the story behind the “Man Who Knows” and his design theories throughout the entire curio and contents of the trunk. Love the “Stinky Elephant”! Okay…my very favorite is the suitcase!

    52. Roxanne Says:

Oh I love the sweet charms…excellent size for embellishing projects. Love that lil masquerade eye mask!
