The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party Ginormous Tag Swap

Filed under Alice in Wonderland, Collage Sheets, Newsletters, Rubber Stamps, Sale, Swaps

Note: most of the links on this post no longer work, as we moved to a new Web site in 2018. But you can try searching on the same names (as links below) on the new site.

I’ve tracked down lots of new red papers and flowers (and ribbons) in anticipation of the new swap. Plus there are 5 new collage sheets.

Here’s a bit of the info from the Swap Specs (that’s a link to the Yahoo Group, where you can also sign up for the swap):

The Mad Hatter is having a tea party and he wants you to create two artistic tags to celebrate this affair! Your tags should use the tea party theme and can be as mad as you want them to be! Although it is the Mad Hatter’s party your tags do not have to use “Alice in Wonderland” images but you do need to use tea things.

Fabulous sample artwork by Design Team Member Teri Calia.

5 New Alice/Tea Party Collage Sheets
All kinds of images, from the vintage tea ad (above at left) to Victorian illustrations of cats dressed in clothes having tea to a strange chorus-line of top-hat-clad gentlemen. And some larger images of the tea party scene from Alice in Wonderland.

8 Red Scrapbook Papers!
5 single-sided red and white (or cream) patterned sheets and
3 “Travel Letter” double-sided sheets.

Red Embellished Butterflies
Five heavy cardstock butterflies with rhinestone bodies (3 rhinestones down the center of each butterfly). Butterflies each measure approximately 1-3/4 x 1-1/8″ and are self-adhesive. They coordinate with the 5 single-sided papers at left.

Chairs Scrapbook Paper
Double-sided cardstock with black silhouettes of chairs on the front and giant brown polka dots (against tiny black polka dots) on the back. Used in the background of the tag at right, also by Teri Calia.

Ginormous Manila Tags
7-1/2 x 3-3/4″ manila shipping tags. Heavy duty. Required for the tag swap.

3 Designs of 3D Stickers
They’re only plastic, but nicely done. Renaissance-inspired flourishes,
Fleur de Lis (in 3 colors) and Royal Crowns (ok, that last one is metal, not plastic). Plus the inside of the brown-paper packaging (for all 3) are printed with repro parcel tags (that you can cut out and use).

“Drink me” and “We are all mad here” Charms
Gold- or silver-plated pewter. Perfect for Alice in Wonderland. “We are all mad here” is from a quote by the Cheshire Cat:

‘But I don’t want to go among mad people,’ Alice remarked.

‘Oh, you can’t help that,’ said the Cat: ‘we’re all mad here. I’m mad.
You’re mad.’

‘How do you know I’m mad?’ said Alice.

‘You must be,’ said the Cat, ‘or you wouldn’t have come here.’

Whatnots: Vintage Ephemera
Set of 10 printed, die-cut cardstock “ephemera,” including the cute card with the white rabbit shown at left.

“Love Story” Red Flower Mix
Set of 12 mulberry paper flowers with stamern in pinks and reds. The largest are 2″ in diameter.

Card Suits Buttons
Plastic shank buttons. The black and red “cut outs” are applied (so are taller than the white part of the buttons).

Crown, Fleur de Lis, Card Suits & Measuring Tape Ribbons
5 ribbons in all:
– White or pink 1/4″ wide grosgrain, printed in black ink with tiny crowns.
– Two 5/8″ wide satin ribbons, printed in black & red ink with card suits or with gold (not metallic) Fleur de Lis against black.
– Ruler Ribbon designed by Tim Holtz. 5/8″ wide, printed with a vintage measuring tape design (in thick paint) and then stitched at both edges. Comes wrapped on a vintage-inspired die-cut card.

Satin Cut-Out Heart Ribbon
3/8″ wide with little cut-out, heart-shaped “windows.”

Red Ribbon Packs & Red Satin Puffy Hearts
Not new… but back in stock and on sale. 1 yard each of 7 ribbons and 1/2 yard of satin puffy hearts ribbon (little 3D pillows). Single yards of the heart ribbon are also on sale.

2 Tea-Themed Rubber Stamp Sets
Teatray Stamp Set
A sweet set of teapots, a teaspoon, a cup with distressed calligraphy, a creamer and the Lewis Carroll twist on “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” (with a flying teatray to position with the rhyme):

Teacups Stamp Set
A row of teacups, a vintage tea ad, a teapot, a design from vintage china pattern, and the surprised man drinking tea shown at right. Works nicely with the Alice Tea Party Rubber Stamp Set or with the Mad Hatter’s Teaparty collage sheets.

More New (and Newly On Sale) Stamps

 Nursery Checkerboard
A sweet image, perfect for repeating as a background. Includes Little Bo Peep, the plate ran away with the spoon (from Hey Diddle Diddle, where that cat probably is from, too), a goose and Humpty Dumpty.

Art: Cheaper Than Therapy
What more to say?

Brownie Seal
What a cutie! The Brownies were a very popular late-19th century series by Palmer Cox.

The following items are on sale:

Large Numbers Clear Stamp Set
A nicely distressed set of numerals and symbols. The largest are 1-1/4″ tall (overall sets is 4 x 8″).

Chandeliers Clear Stamp Set
Overall size is also 4 x 8″.

Fleur-de-lis Rubber Stamp
A good, old engraved image.

Raven (Left & Right) Rubber Stamps
1-1/2″ x 1″ each.

Crow Rubber Stamp
1-3/8″ x 1-1/4″

Mercury Seal Rubber Stamp
Includes the text “Fleet foot’d Hermes, bringer of dreams.” Hermes (Mercury to the Romans) was the messenger of the gods. One of his duties was to guide the souls of the dead down to the underworld (and to bring dreams to mortals).

Little Mermaid Rubber Stamp
1″ x 3-1/2″

Sea Border Rubber Stamp
3-1/2″ x 1-1/2″

Large & Small Cake Rubber Stamps
Hey, something for the table at the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.

Happy Cake Rubber Stamp
This is such a fun stamp! Mounted only. Approx. 2-1/2″ tall.

Miscellaneous

Spanish Playing Cards
Spanish playing/fortune telling cards. Similar to Tarot cards, but there is no Major Arcana. The Spanish deck has forty-eight cards; each suit has pip cards from 1 (ace) to 9, ending with a knave (Sota/Jack), a cavalier (Caballo/Knight) and a king (Rey). The latter bear the numbers: 10, 11 and 12, respectively.

The suits are Copas (Cups), Oros (Coins), Bastos (Clubs) and Espadas (Swords). Red and white patterned backs. They are 2-3/8″ x 3-5/8″ size, so even if you don’t want to use the images, they are still a good size to make into ATCs (a tad off standard size, but I wouldn’t quibble).

Fan Connectors
Oxidized gold color. Package contains 6 pieces temporarily linked together to form a strand. Each piece is an opened fan shape with loop at top and bottom. Each piece measures approximately 25mm x 23mm, including loops.

Rounded Fan Filigree
Raw brass.

Pearl Micro Marbles
These pearls are amazing! Perfect tiny holeless pearls for any elegant project… or mermaid? See photo at right.

Metalworking 101 for Beaders Create Custom Findings, Pendants & Projects
When you create beaded jewelry, you use a variety of metal findings. Now this A-Z guide will teach you how to make the perfect metal findings to showcase your beadwork. Candie Cooper teaches nationally and internationally, and her book will take you step by step through all the information you need to make fabulous one-of-a-kind findings, just like in her workshops.

Cupcakes Scrapbook Paper –
2 color options
Pink (screenprinted ink) on light pink metallic (!) paper or brown (also screenprinted ink) on craft paper. 12″ x 12″ sheets.

Bingo Card Book
Heavy chipboard pages, each printed with a slightly different (vintage) bingo card on the front side (the palette/greyish brown ink is the same on all pages as the image shown, but the numbers are different on all the cards and the “Bingo” heads vary slightly in font and imagery).

Envelope & Tag Book
Cute book: giant die cut manila “tags” (more like cardstock weight) that are 4-1/2″ wide x 5-1/2″ tall, and matching giant-sized library card pockets (4-1/2″ wide x 5-1/2″ tall and punched for binding). Comes with 2 binding rings.

Ornate White Resin Frames: Oval & Keyholes
Cast resin frames with nice detailing. 2-7/8″ tall. They have a whitewashed look, but are also easy to paint other colors.

Double-Sided Key Charms – New Antique Gold Color

Tim Holtz Memo Pins
Antique-colored pins in 3 colors (nickel, copper and brass). Each piece is a pin with a round “split ring” at the top, in which you can slide in photos, notes, journaling, etc. Measures approximately 1-1/2″ long, including ring.

Metallic Iridescent Ribbons –
New Narrow Green Color

Oxidized Black Chains
Same finish, new sizes. Chain in two weights:
– the lighter weight is 76″ long (each link is approx. 3mm);
– the heavier weight is 76″ long (with links approx 7 x 5mm).
